Interactive Media Manager – Marketing

E-Mail Andrew |

Andrew Lorinser is the interactive media manager at ABC 10 / CW 5,

Lorinser’s career-aspirations were never specifically targeted to broadcast journalism, but he enjoys discovering how his skills apply to the industry. “I am grateful to be considered a part of the ABC 10 team,” said Lorinser.  “Although I have always been a News junky, my role is primarily marketing oriented. As a writer and a concerned-citizen, the blog provides a great outlet for me to help facilitate a pertinent community conversation. It’s my favorite part of the job, and I think it’s important.”

He’s a Yooper at heart, but was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lorinser is a long-time Marquette, MI resident, and proudly claims Northern Michigan University and Marquette Senior High School as his alma maters. He also studied business administration at Devry University.  Lorinser joined The Upper Peninsula’s ABC 10 / CW 5 in the winter of 2013, bringing more than a decade of multimedia experience to the station.

His favorite television journalist is documentarian Ken Burns. “The level of detail Burns includes in his documentaries are bar-none. The research behind his films is astonishing,” said Andrew. He admires how Ken Burns relates historic memoirs to a modern audience.

Before ABC 10, Lorinser’s skills in marketing, public-relations, and communication had been utilized to create business-development strategies for hundreds of businesses, non-profit organizations, and entertainment groups. In 2004 Andrew co-founded Redfella Production Co., LLC. This Michigan-based media company produced and directed many successful promotional campaigns in print, radio, television, and online.

His first on-air experience was as a teenager. Lorinser was captain of a junior hockey team in Marquette that won a bronze medal in the USA Hockey National Championships. He can only recall his teammates making faces at him from behind the camera, and bursting into laughter during serious questions. Later as a small business owner, Lorinser started to take public interviews more seriously. Andrew has formal training for action in front of the camera, guided by PR professionals, business coaches, and communication and marketing specialists. He appeared regularly as a weekly co-host on Sunny 101.9’s “Work Day Wind Down” with Chrissy Nichols, and has been interviewed countless times by local news reporters for his projects around the community.

Lorinser held a number of positions revolving around the field of multimedia, journalism, and marketing – GM of Redfella Records, associate publisher for Best Version Media in Pewaukee, WI and the Community Marketing Manager for Shop Local Appleton. Andrew freelances as a marketing consultant for local businesses, blogs for various websites, and is the developer of the popular app Marquette Mobile.

His dream job is “CJ from the West Wing,” exclaims Andrew. His ultimate goal in life is to one day be the White House Press Secretary. “Preferably for President Peter Lorinser’s administration,” he added (his brother). Before this pie-in-the-sky accomplishment, Andrew’s immediate aspirations revolve around the expansion of his digital app, and possibly local politics.

“My community is important to me. This place raised me,” said Lorinser. Andrew’s family roots have a strong emphasis on giving back to the community through public service. Both his parents are U.S. diplomats for the State Department, working overseas in Pakistan, Korea, and Baghdad. He is a middle child, with an older sister and younger brother.

For recreation Andrew likes to be creative. He enjoys writing, and has been flattering suggestions from the community to write a novel. When he’s not at work, he can usually be found . . . working. In his rare spare time, Andrew enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, and over coddling his canine best-friend, Brodie. Andrew lives in Marquette and loves all sorts of indoor activities. “I enjoy the beauty of nature from behind windows,” joked Andrew. “I’m a metro-Yooper.”
