Gone to the dogs: Canine fever takes over the U.P.

MARQUETTE — One of the Upper Peninsula’s biggest annual events starts in just a matter of hours from now.

The U.P. 200 and Midnight Run sled dog races have already taken over Downtown Marquette. Washington Street was blocked off Friday morning as work crews brought in snow, setup barricades as well as the timing equipment at the starting line, located right next to the Mining Journal.

The U.P. 200 is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Midnight Run at approximately 8:30 p.m.
