Attempted bank robber receives federal prison sentence

WISCONSIN — A New York man arrested last year for attempting to rob a bank was sentenced Monday in federal court.

Ross Bertucci, 33, will serve six years at a federal penitentiary in Indiana for one count of attempted bank robbery. Bertucci was arrested on August 5th, 2016, after a clerk at a gas station noticed him attempting to walk into the State Bank of Florence in Wausaukee with a covering over his face.

The clerk quickly notified the bank. Employees there were able to lock the doors before Bertucci came in.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office found him also in possession of a handgun. He was arraigned on federal charges in October and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in November.

After his prison sentence, Bertucci will have three years of supervised release.
