UPDATE: Two people involved in snowmobile accident

UPDATE — Thursday, February 9, 2017 10:30 p.m. EDT

Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says they responded to an accident involving two snowmobiles occurred around 4:00 P.M. on trail #5 off of M-95 in Republic.

David Daniels, 62, of Grand Haven located in the Lower Peninsula was traveling east on the trail when a snowmobile in the group ahead of him stopped suddenly. Daniels was unable to stop and struck the snowmobile, which was driven by Richard Hartigan, 73, of Howell. also located down state.

Hartigan was transported to UP Health System – Marquette for his injuries. Daniels sought his own treatment.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the incident.


REPUBLIC — Emergency crews responded to Trail #5 on M-95 in Republic for a two snowmobile personal injury accident.

Around 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, emergency responders were dispatched on a report of a two-vehicle snowmobile accident. The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown at this time. Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette Police Department, Humboldt Township Fire, and UP Health System EMS assisted on the scene.
