Man in hospital after two-vehicle collision

GLADSTONE — One man was sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

Officers from Gladstone Public Safety say they responded to an accident at the intersection of US-2 and M-35 in Gladstone where a semi-truck had struck a pick-up truck.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the semi-truck, which was traveling northbound on US-2, failed to stop at a red light and hit the pick-up truck that was traveling westbound across the highway. The semi-truck jack knifed and lost the load of lumber it was hauling.

The pick-up truck driver was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital for his injuries. The semi-driver was cited for failing to stop at a red light.

The Michigan State Police and Rampart EMS assisted at the scene.
