MSU Suitability project for Heritage Trail designs finishing up

ISHPEMING– The design is being finished for some improvements to the Heritage Trail around Ishpeming and the public was shown the plans on Thursday.

The MSU extension held their third and final meeting Thursday afternoon at River Rocks Lanes in Ishpeming to outline the final design images of the Heritage trail. The goal of the MSU sustainability project is improve the Cliffs Shaft Mine Site and connect it to the Heritage Trail and Lake Bancroft.

Officials from MSU extension hope that this can provide a new community space for the Upper Peninsula.

Wayne Beyea, Outreach specialist for MSU said that “There’s a lot of energy in this area, the amount of support and input that we’ve had in the previous two meetings has really been tremendous and speaks to the spirit of communication in this area between the city, the museum, the Heritage Trail, other partners that are going to help fund and support and help implement some of the improvements that we’re recommend here tonight.”

Feedback from the community is still welcome.
