Local musicians ‘rock out’ at Bluesday Tuesday event

MARQUETTE — Music lovers of all skill levels showed off their stuff Tuesday night and jammed in Marquette as part of Bluesday Tuesday.

The event takes place at Peter White Public Library and is open to all music lovers in the community. The blues musicians meet the last Tuesday each month. Meetings include live acts, movies, and a couple times a year, a jam session.

“You’ll find a lot of people at a jam session like this that are beginners,” bass player Mike Hoffman said. “They come here to learn, and play along with the more experienced, and the more experienced performers love the help.”

“We were all a nervous musician at one point in time and you just got to get up there,” Blues Society President Mark Hamari said. “We’re not going to force you to do anything you’re not ready to do but it’s a great chance here to meet some other musicians of all levels. I can’t think of a better place to get a start.”

Hamari said it’s a great place to get together and meet other like minded musicians.
