Black Friday special that will get you in touch with nature

ISHPEMING — As people rush to the stores and malls for Black Friday sales, there is one special deal that will get you outside.

On Black Friday, Michigan State Parks will be offering free entry statewide. OptOutside is the name of the special that was created to encourage people to spend time outdoors. Whether you’re hiking on one of more than twelve-thousand miles of designated state trails or watching diverse wildlife, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

This special is also a great time to work off some of that holiday feast from the day before.

“We have kind of a fun thing happening this black Friday. We’re letting you come into any Michigan state park or trail for free. So maybe that’s way to get rid of some of the extra calories from all the turkey or pumpkin pie, or something like that. You can get out there and go for a hike,” said Park Supervisor, Doug Barry.

This is the second year the state parks are participating in this black Friday special. If you’re interested in getting in touch with nature this black Friday, Michigan has more than one-hundred state parks to choose from.
