Man sentenced for killing his father

ST. IGNACE — A St. Ignace man could spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his own father more than two years ago.

Richard McKenzie Jr., 55, received 20-years to life for second-degree homicide Wednesday morning in Chippewa County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty in September for shooting and killing seventy-five year-old Richard McKenzie Senior at a residence in St. Ignace Township in October of 2014.

In addition to the murder charge, McKenzie Jr. also pleaded guilty to a felony firearms charge and assault of a prison employee.
